Investment aid for industrial electrification and low-carbonisation – Deadline 13th of November 2023

Third application round for energy investment aid under Finland’s RRF plan is open. Applications will be accepted for direct electrification and decarbonisation of industrial processes investments until the 13th of November 2023. The projects must be completed by 30 June 2026. 

The aim of the aid scheme is to promote energy investment that are in line with the Sustainable Growth Programme for Finland and that reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Finland and support the country’s 2035 carbon neutrality target. Another objective is to reduce the technological and economic risks associated with investments in energy infrastructure and the electrification and decarbonisation of industry.

Basic information and requirements

  • Grants can be awarded to projects that:   

  • promote industrial electrification and low-carbonisation, including through heat pump technology, electrification of steam generation and industrial waste heat  

  • improve energy efficiency: for example, surplus heat from manufacturing industry can be used in production processes or as district heating 

  • Only for projects or parts of projects that would not be launched without the energy aid 

  • The project may not begin before the aid application has been submitted 

  • The projects must be completed by 30 June 2026 

  • Applications may be submitted for projects with eligible costs exceeding EUR 1 million and priority will be given to projects where eligible costs exceed EUR 5 million

  • Funding applications should be submitted via Business Finland’s online services portal
